Shanna Hurd joined Intuit Technologies through the TasTAFE and ACS Women in ICT Pathways Program. Fresh out of her Certificate III, she came in quietly confident – focused, curious, and ready to learn.
From the start, she made her goal clear: she wanted to work in networking, and she was willing to take the right steps to get there. Her first role was in triage – the front line of support, where every client issue is logged, prioritised, and routed. It’s a fast-paced, foundational space that gave Shanna early insight into how our clients work, what matters to them, and how to stay calm under pressure.
Knowing she needed real experience before progressing further, Shanna applied for a Service Desk Analyst role. She interviewed alongside other candidates and earned the position on merit. In this role, she became known for her reliability, outcomes, and willingness to mentor others. She also helped improve how we documented and shared solutions internally.
As her technical skills deepened, Shanna kept her focus on networking. With advice and support from across the business, she applied for a junior role in the Network Operations Team – and was successful. She spent the next year studying, growing and earning trust. Eventually, she progressed to Network Engineer – now working across BAU support, infrastructure, and high-priority incidents as part of the Managed Services practice.
Every step was deliberate. Every step was earned. And at each point, she was backed by leaders who saw her potential and gave her space to grow.
Today, Shanna is known not just for her capability, but for her consistency. She’s the one people call when it matters.
Shanna didn’t just find a job in tech – she built a career in an environment that recognised her ambition, respected her process, and supported each chapter along the way.
