Ben Purtell

Ben Purtell

Senior Account Executive | 9 years with Intuit Technologies

Relationships Built to Last

Ben Purtell graduated with a Bachelor of Information Systems from the University of Tasmania – a qualification that combined business thinking with technical foundations and set the tone for his approach to client work.

He didn’t start out in tech delivery. He came from a commercial background, with experience in sales and enterprise account management – and brought that mindset into Intuit Technologies nearly a decade ago. What’s kept him here isn’t just the work – it’s the way the business backs people who care about clients and do things the right way.

Over nine years, Ben has shifted from account management into strategic client partnership. His approach is simple: keep it real, keep it consistent, and always bring value.

“The shift for me has been about listening more, adding value earlier, and staying focused on what matters to each client,” he says. “I’ve had the freedom here to grow with the role.”

That growth has been supported at every step. Intuit Technologies gave Ben the space to shape how he works, bring in experts early, and build long-standing relationships – particularly across the aged care and not-for-profit sectors. Through partnerships like Telstra, he’s helped clients uplift their cyber maturity, move to Microsoft cloud, and access outcomes they didn’t think were possible within their budgets.

It’s not about chasing every deal. It’s about delivering consistently and keeping trust strong.

“In Tasmania, relationships are everything,” Ben says. “Clients know when you’re genuine. If you’ve got their back, they’ll stick with you – and that’s where the real outcomes come from.”

At Intuit Technologies, Ben found a place where delivery matters more than noise – and where trusted people are given the room to lead, adapt, and stay the course.

Ben’s story is proof that when you bring consistency, values and commercial insight – and you’re backed by a business that knows what good looks like – you can build something that lasts.

Hussain Haider

Hussain Haider

Cyber Security Analyst | Intuit Technologies

From Service Desk to Cyber Defence

When Hussain Haider joined Intuit Technologies, it wasn’t with a title or a plan – it was with a mindset. He came through the service desk, eager to learn, focused on cybersecurity, and prepared to do the work.

What happened next speaks to what Intuit Technologies makes possible when the right person steps into the right environment.

From day one, Hussain made it clear where he wanted to go. We didn’t just give him a roadmap – we gave him a platform. Through structured mentorship, employer-supported study hours, and hands-on exposure to real client environments, Hussain steadily built the capability needed to step into the Security-as-a-Service team when it launched.

He didn’t skip steps. He worked through the fundamentals. Built client trust. Completed Microsoft certifications in his own time. Asked questions. Stuck with it.

That mix of support and personal drive made the difference. Hussain had leaders who listened, space to stretch his skills, and time to invest in what mattered to him. And he used it well.

Today, he’s a trusted Cyber Security Analyst – supporting national clients across threat detection, incident response, and managed security services.

Hussain didn’t come in as a cyber analyst. He became one here. His story reflects what we stand for as a business – real progression, backed by trust, and shaped by shared commitment.

Helena Bird

Helena Bird

Head of Customer Success | 9+ years with Intuit Technologies

From Reception to Leadership

Helena Bird walked into Intuit Technologies over a decade ago as a receptionist. No tech background, no clear pathway – just a strong work ethic and a determination to make herself useful.

What followed wasn’t luck. It was persistence. Helena took every opportunity to learn the business from the inside out. She asked questions. She listened. She figured out how things worked – and how they could work better. Over time, she moved through coordination roles, stepped into service delivery, and ultimately built and now leads the national customer success function.

“I’ve never been handed anything. Every step forward, I’ve had to earn,” Helena says. “But that’s what makes it meaningful. If you’re willing to show up and do the work, this business will back you.”

Today, Helena leads with clarity and grit. She oversees the full client experience, owns major partner relationships, and brings sharp commercial thinking to everything from operational performance to escalation management. Her deep understanding of service delivery – and her ability to make complexity simple – is a key reason clients stay. When she reflects on her journey, she doesn’t downplay where it started.

“I started on reception. That’s where I learned how this business runs. It taught me how to listen, how to lead under pressure, and how to take ownership. And it showed me what was possible.”

At Intuit Technologies, Helena has carved out a leadership role built on trust, delivery, and staying power. Her path isn’t just a great story – it’s a blueprint for what’s possible.

“You don’t need to come from a technical background. You need drive, resilience, and a willingness to learn. That’s how I got here – and that’s what’s possible at Intuit Technologies.”

Shanna Hurd

Shanna Hurd

Network Support | 4 years with Intuit Technologies

From Trainee to Trusted Technician

Shanna Hurd joined Intuit Technologies through the TasTAFE and ACS Women in ICT Pathways Program. Fresh out of her Certificate III, she came in quietly confident – focused, curious, and ready to learn.

From the start, she made her goal clear: she wanted to work in networking, and she was willing to take the right steps to get there. Her first role was in triage – the front line of support, where every client issue is logged, prioritised, and routed. It’s a fast-paced, foundational space that gave Shanna early insight into how our clients work, what matters to them, and how to stay calm under pressure.

Knowing she needed real experience before progressing further, Shanna applied for a Service Desk Analyst role. She interviewed alongside other candidates and earned the position on merit. In this role, she became known for her reliability, outcomes, and willingness to mentor others. She also helped improve how we documented and shared solutions internally.

As her technical skills deepened, Shanna kept her focus on networking. With advice and support from across the business, she applied for a junior role in the Network Operations Team – and was successful. She spent the next year studying, growing and earning trust. Eventually, she progressed to Network Engineer – now working across BAU support, infrastructure, and high-priority incidents as part of the Managed Services practice.

Every step was deliberate. Every step was earned. And at each point, she was backed by leaders who saw her potential and gave her space to grow.

Today, Shanna is known not just for her capability, but for her consistency. She’s the one people call when it matters.

Shanna didn’t just find a job in tech – she built a career in an environment that recognised her ambition, respected her process, and supported each chapter along the way.
